What are we raising money for? In Bullitt County, we know that on average we have 300-400 children who are classified as homeless at some point throughout the school year. Whether they are living in garages, cars or couch surfing we know that this is not a sustainable way for children to thrive.
Metro United Way is committed to fighting for these children every day. We currently fund programs designed to wrap around our community's kids such as CASA, Bullitt County Schools Homeless Outreach Coordinator, Blessings in a Backpack, Kids Café and The Shepherds Pantry.
We are also spearheading an effort to bring a shelter for women and children to Bullitt County. At this time there is no permanent shelter in Bullitt. For women and children to have to leave their community, their school, their jobs to seek shelter in another county makes no sense, we need to give them the opportunity to lift up and out of their situations in their home community, surrounded by a network of support systems, this is the focus of Bullitt County Housing First.
After all Together we fight. Together we win. Together we Live United for Bullitt County!
